OUR STORY

Amra Sobuj is a Bengali theater group of Bolpur, Birbhum. The group was founded on December 2003. The group has totally been committed to develop the positive human relationship, confidence and solidarity in the midst of the young generation through theatre. Amra Sobuj emphasize the necessity of theatre workshop so that the group arranges various workshops on many levels and opens to anyone who wants to explore and develop their personal creative power in the art of acting. Amra Sobuj has a separate section for children. This section is involved in promoting theatre among the school students and other children who belongs outside the school. Theatre schooling for Kids under Amra Sobuj runs throughout the year in every Wednesday in Bolpur, Santiniketan. With its consistently good work, Amra Sobuj has indeed distinct a position in its neighboring sector. The group went through the production as ‘Lathi’ by legendary playwright Mohit Chottopadhyay, ‘SIKSHA ATHOBA HOTYAR GOLPO’ by famous author Udayan Ghosh, ‘PROSTAB’ by luminous theatre guy Ajitesh Bandyopadhyay etc. Now the group has staged their new production ‘SHARI’ based on its own script.

OUR AIM

    Theatre is one of the excellent means to build up social awareness. To use this means we can push forward our positive perspective towards human society. We want to use our theatre to build up awareness among the youth. We want to organize regular theatre workshop throughout the year for kids who belongs within teens. Our aim is to help the student to acquire increased understanding of others, themselves and the world around them. Works in our group will provide students with opportunities to become self-confident, self-disciplined, self-motivated learners. By working with other students will develop trust in the group and will participate openly and confidently.
